Acknowledgements
The WDPA is the result of a worldwide collaborative effort made possible by the active participation of official governmental entities, international environmental organizations, local NGOs, its subsidiaries, WDPA consortium partners and many other organizations and individuals whose data contributions and expert opinion made possible the update of the WDPA.
Credit and recognition for the actual protected areas data compilation and integration in the WDPA are given to UNEP-WCMC, the organization that has been working with information on protected areas since 1981.
