Terms of Use

The WDPA is now available in the Conservation Commons domain. This emerging domain lead by IUCN within the conservation community facilitates and regulates the free exchange of data and information for improving conservation.

The WDPA is now available to download in the public domain. Access to all WDPA data (or the "Content") is provided with the knowledge that the end-user read and consents to be bound to the terms outlined in these Terms of Use. These Terms of Use aim at both: clarify how the contents of the WDPA data may or may not be used; and to create a standard set of guidelines to all users interested in accessing and using the Content. Please contact the WDPA Consortium at s.olivieri@conservation.org if further clarifications are needed.

The Terms of Use of the WDPA are aimed at two "end-users:" those individual(s) who want to access the data for their own private use while retrieving, searching, displaying, viewing on-screen, printing WDPA data for educational-research purposes, or all non-commercial uses only; and those "other" end-users who in addition to the non-commercial uses listed above want to publish the data online through other websites and/or Internet Map Servers.

All end-users must abide to the conditions identified in the terms for Use of the Database. If you wish to publish the WDPA online, you are asked to abide in addition to the Guidelines listed in Publishing data online on this CD-ROM.
