Feedback

We need your help!

The review and update process of the protected areas data is an essential component of the WDPA and we would like you to help us complete this process. Maintaining a dynamic database of over 100,000 records of areas across the globe is a big challenge that can only be undertaken with the active participation of everyone. As experts in protected areas, the WCPA members, and other experts, are the best prepared and the best placed to contribute to this analysis.

If you have first hand information on the protected areas in your region, please take the time to review the data presented in this database, provide us with your feedback and/or let us know if you can contribute better datasets. We would like to ask your help in:

  1. Identify errors in the data, and eventually present updated data
  2. Identify gaps in the data, i.e. missing protected areas, or missing data fields for one protected area
  3. Identify duplicate records, i.e. a protected area that might appear more than once with slightly different data
  4. Sometimes the data is complete although there could be better data available. For example, better defined boundaries for a protected area, etc.
  5. Identify alternative sources of data (or expertise) about a particular protected area or region.

The best way to provide us with feedback is to use the Internet, using the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas Portal.

Please go to http://www.biodiversity.org/wcpa/ and click on "WDPA" on the left side: this page contains instructions and templates for you to provide feedback, post comments and communicative your opinions.

As an alternative, if you do not have easy access to the Internet, please address your comments to:
