The Cave Exploration Group of South Australia came into
being in 1955, and an excellent
summary of the
beginnings of CGESA, written by the late Elery Hamilton-Smith (one of the
foundation members), can be found on the
CEGSA website. CEGSA is a strong and
active society with a keen interest in science and conservation. In 1996, the
main publication (the CEGSA Newsletter) became "CEGSA News". CEGSA publications
are lodged with the Australian National Library as a National e-deposit
publication and are available through Trove. They are numbered (with some rare
exceptions), by volume and number, but they have all been given an issue number
by the club (some retrospectively) and are
ordered by this number.
CEGSA have also produced several Occasional Papers - these are
catalogued elsewhere as monographs.
